There have been several people I have known, whose respective spouses had died, and then they found companionship with another who had been bereaved.  That new relationship grew over the space of years.

These verses are an attempt to bring into focus love which is eternal in length, and unlimited in scope.  Love itself is essentially unchanged.  The memories from previous relationships, surely do not die, but provide, as it were, a springboard into a new relationship. In this way love never ends.  Like the baton in a relay race, it is carried, then handed on.

‘For the present we see things as if in a mirror, and we are puzzled;

but then we shall see them face to face.’

Love never fails, nor ever falters.

Remains undimmed before the altars

of the heartfelt vow.

Born from a common grief synchronised;

Nurtured in faith and trust, harmonised;

a togetherness,

another endlessness.

A future filled with proposals shared,

founded upon two ambitions paired.

Restocked memory.

Renewed harmony.

May your bonds of the human trinity

reinforce and renew your unity.
